How

it works

Take charge of your mental health today!

Before we start any new journey, it's important to complete a free 20 minute consultation. You can ask any questions, point out what's troubling you and how you would like me to be able to help you. This allows me to create a personalised treatment plan.

Sessions are held online via video call, text, telephone or email, whichever works best for you.

During therapy, you may complete practical exercises and tasks in and outside of sessions, with regular check ins to ensure your progress. We work together to understand your problems and achieve set goals.

So what is Talking Therapy?

Talking therapy involves talking to a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It can help you to make sense of, process and change troubling thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

It offers a safe space to meet with a professional, understand what's causing your problems and learn how to cope with them in a healthy way. Talking therapy can also help you gain relief from symptoms and improve your daily functioning.

You don’t need a diagnosis or even a specific ‘problem’ to get a lot out of therapy. Sometimes it just helps to talk to someone who listens without judgment.

Person-centered Therapy

I specialise in Person-centered Talking Therapy which focuses on using your own strengths and insight about yourself to encourage personal growth and improve relationships. Active listening without passing judgement is a big part of this, helping you to clarify your thoughts and feelings.

Questions & Answers

Who can benefit from talking therapy?

A. Anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or other emotional challenges can benefit. It’s suitable for both children and adults.

What do I do to get started?

A. Starting therapy with The Talking Therapist is simple. Just reach out to me via phone or email to schedule a convenient time for your initial consultation.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person sessions?

A. Yes, studies have shown that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face sessions, especially for issues like anxiety, depression, and stress management.

What can I expect in a therapy session?

A. During a therapy session with The Talking Therapist, you can expect a safe and confidential environment where you can openly discuss your thoughts and feelings. Our therapist will listen attentively, offer guidance, and work collaboratively with you to explore solutions and promote personal growth. You may find it useful to have a pen and paper handy to make notes as you go along.

Confidentiality: The exception to confidentiality is if I receive clinical supervision with another therapist in line with professional guidance. These discussions remain anonymous. The main situation where confidentiality may need to be compromised is if I was concerned regarding risk to yourself or others. You will be provided of this before you start therapy and your consent will be obtained.

Why should I pay for private therapy when its available on the NHS?

A. While the NHS offers an extremely helpful service, there is a growing waiting list for treatment. NHS Therapists also set a limit to how many sessions you need. With a private therapist, you can take charge of your mental health and get the help you need, without having to wait. Private therapy also allow you to take charge of how many sessions you would like to include in your treatment, offering greater flexibility.
